Odds are you might need to use a program like calibre to convert the file to a PDF or another file type. Tips to find textbooks at a lower price or alternative option?

Stripping the DRM, converting and transfering bold from your Kindle is a very simple process if you have a pc or max with Calibre and the correct plug-ins. It also "solves" the sideloading cover issue by refreshing them automatically on reconnect and then the covers stick around. I mainly use the Calibre app on PC to handle ebook management and sideloading as it can convert books to formats (and I added a plugin that strips DRM, not that I have another ereader right now but I'm not too worried about being trapped in their ecosystem forever). I've been cataloguing my books on LibraryThing for around 2 decades now, and recently I've been playing with Alfa eBook Manager as something on my computer that's. All in all, it's just not a pleasant experience. I hate that it renames my files and moves them. I'm one of those people who really dislike Calibre. Which is great for people who use Calibre, but not everyone does. You not only can restore reading material lost on your hard drive, but you can also convert. It's got a neat iOS companion app that works as a barcode scanner. Calibre lets you bring some order to your digital library. While we're talking about apps, I have one for Mac only called Delicious Library. How many books do you guys have? I’m at 180. Anyone out there use anything? I don’t have a massive personal collection but I’m also a photo teacher and have a pretty good sized classroom library and would love to find a solution where students could search by theme or photographer. There’s a few iPhone apps and web based options I’ve come across in a quick google search. Just saw this Tik Tok by Alec Soth who uses Delicious Library. Zotero might be better choice for this.Does anyone use a database or app to catalog their collection? NOTE: Calibre is IMO not that good for research papers although YMMV. I am sure its comming one day or you can implement samo mumbo-jumbo on your own. The only thing it doesn't have is in text search, but hey. Anybody not using it simply doesn't know better. Simply, there isn't anything better out there. There are plugins to put kindle encrypted books offline ! along with my own classification on books that isn't merged with online stuff and is kept separatelly. I have personal tags such as `reading`, `must read` etc. You can both have online tags applied and your own tags. Awesome converter from-to number of formats You can have different libraries, groups, virtual libs etc. Audiobooks could be handled better but ok. It supports zillion formats, and basically you can add zip or anything. You can share via web server and access lib from browser and even add books from browser or simply copy them to special folder You can add arbitrary metadata and give them types (bool, text, urls.) It first uses cover of the book (first page in PDF, epub etc), downloads covers if there aren't any, or generates them if nothing can be found Without ISBN it will search by given criteria You can scan books for ISBNs and get certain 1 on 1 match online without any effort or search foo. You can make plugin for any magazine (python) including self-published Some features (there are thousands of them):
